I was floating around the hellscape that is the internet in 2026 when I came across some good news. Harvey Weinstein has been given a sentence of 15 years. You may be asking yourself why that is, since he’s already in prison. If you’re me, you will immediately panic and check if he was let go or miraculously out on parole. Fortunately, that was not the case. The usual injustice that saturates the U.S. was not rearing its ugly head this day—no. In fact, he’s currently in prison in California awaiting resentencing, and that’s a whole different story I won’t get into. Just trust he’s still in prison, and he is likely to be for some time. While he waits, he’s gotten 15 years for sexually assaulting Miriam “Mimi” Haley. I’m glad to see that sometimes justice finds the victims of sexual assault who most often happen to be women. Justice isn’t consistent here. We get evidence of that almost every day. Don’t believe me? Look at what happened with Nolan Wells. His parents not only have to deal with the giant void the loss of their son has left in their lives, but it’s also just become infinitely harder for them to get the justice they deserve.
After learning about this new 15-year sentence, I made my way over to Twitter and saw a tweet that I initially scrolled right on past, but which a moment later hit me like a punch to the chest.

And you know what? Yeah, can we? Can we get these ladies back on the screen? I can imagine they have some emotions they might want to suss out through their work. Those women just might be holding some of the pivotal performances of our time. How will we know if no one ever hires them for the job? I’m looking at you, Hollywood. Mira Sorvino, Ashley Judd and I are waiting.
