I'm interested in seeing how this pans out. Fargo did well transitioning from movie to TV series and I have high hopes for 'Dear White People.' It was a pretty good movie.
Did you cringe when you heard Hollywood was about to embark on a remake of 'The Craft'?
I know I did, but don't worry. It turns out that this new movie will actually be a sequel. Crisis averted.

I'm going to accept Marvel's logic behind casting Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One
Marvel doesn't usually seem to shy away from diversity when it comes to casting their movies. Too bad they don't hire more women to work on said films, though. To be fair, it seems no one really hires women to do much of anything in Hollywood. You know what? Maybe it's just Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox. LOL, nah. It's all of Hollywood. If you don't belive me, go check out that thing I just posted about female directors, Fox and Parmount. Don't roll your eyes at me. I'm allowed to have opinions.
Also, Tilda Swinton can convincingly play anyone or anything, and we know this because we've seen her do it successfully time and again. If minorities were better represented in film, casting choices like this wouldn't be such a big deal to begin with.

Not a single female director through 2018? What year is this?
I'm trying desperately to feel surprised by this latest tidbit, but I'm finding it difficult. Not one, but two major studios, guys. That's just depressing. It's not like there aren't female directors out there. What is it with this pervasive sexism in Hollywood? Sorry to be such a downer, but reality is a cruel mistress.

'Purple Rain' is coming back to theaters this weekend
If you're mourning the loss of the Purple One, this might make it sting a little less. Well, this and filling every room in your home with his music.
The world feels like a different place without Prince, doesn't it? You are not alone in your grief, friend. Thank you, AMC Theaters.

Kevin Smith's new movie got an R rating for a cartoonish drawing of a scrotum
Yes. You read that right. Kevin Smith's new movie, targeted at tween girls, which Smith describes as Clueless meets Gremlins, got an R rating because someone made a ball joke. Tell me, how old were you when you made your first joke about balls?

Dramas with a few jokes thrown into the mix will no longer be able to compete as comedies at the Golden Globes
This seems more than fair. This feels just. Judd Apatow was right; The Martian winning for best comedy was uncalled for. Dramas shouldn't get to pick and choose where they want to compete. They're dramas and they already reign supreme. I'm glad the Golden Globes have decided to give comedy the respect it deserves.

If the Character is Japanese, why not cast someone who is actually Asian?
I wonder how many Asian actors auditioned for the part before they decided to go with Scarlett Johansson? I can see why fans of the original Ghost in the Shell (as well as any Asian folks that were hoping to see a movie that reflects the true nature of the original anime) are furious. Us minorities are tired of being erased from our own stories, Hollywood. It's time to do better, Paramount Pictures.

The folks at AMC were not prepared to hear how much we hate texting at the movies
AMC is telling us to calm the hell down because they're not ready to let people text during movies just yet. In other words, they heard our cries of despair and anger, and they can probably smell the bile on our breath. Well done angry, opinionated users of the internet. I tip my hat to you.

Allowing Texting in Your Theaters is Not the Answer
No. Wrong answer. Maybe instead of letting people indulge in rude behavior when they're at the movies, give them a better experience and fewer reasons to get bored while waiting for their movie to start. There are theaters that offer beer and wine as well as dinner options with their screenings. How about that? Encouraging people to be distracted during a movie isn't going to work for them or anyone around them. Keep brainstorming, AMC.
