Rosamund Pike is good at being evil. I’m down for a story of comeuppance for a character that looks like they’ve never been held accountable once in their life. How ‘bout you? Look for I Care a Lot on Netflix February 19.
Trailer: Coming 2 America
Here’s the first trailer for Coming 2 America. It turns out Prince Hakeem (Eddie Murphy), who is about to become king, has a son in the U.S. that he never knew about. Akeem’s father (James Earl Jones), the current King of Zamunda has a final wish and that wish is to ensure his grandson is raised as the price he was meant to be. And so Hakeem and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) are headed back to Queens.
Please, please, please Eddie Murphy don’t mess this up. The original was an instant classic and still one of the funniest movies ever. Hopefully the sequel doesn’t tarnish that legacy. Also, anyone else bummed that Zamuda isn’t a real place? I wonder what country it’s based on and how much it would cost to go there and see it in real life because I’m ready. Look for Coming 2 America on March 5.
Trailer: Books of Blood
Books of Blood is a horror movie made up of three different stories that traverse space and time. It’s directed by Brannon Braga and it looks like he’s trying to embody the glory days of Clive Barker with this one. Books of Blood will be released on Hulu on Oct 7.
Final Trailer: Joker
The final trailer for Joker is here. The countdown is on. I am beyond excited for this movie. How about you? October 4 can’t come soon enough.
Trailer: After the Wedding
I know, I was rolling my eyes at the beginning of the trailer too. I didn’t want (or need) another movie about a magical savior and I’m glad that’s not what this is about. The intrigue is thick with ‘After the Wedding.’ A trailer can usually sell me on that alone, but then there’s also Michelle Williams and Julianne Moore. Look for ‘After the Wedding’ in theaters on August 9.
Trailer: Harriet
It is about time an American hero like Harriet Tubman gets a movie. This biopic covers Harriet’s story from the time she escaped slavery, through her time as a conductor on the Underground Railroad where she worked tirelessly to save hundreds of slaves. Fingers crossed the movie does her real story justice. Look for Harriet in theaters November 1.
