Listen, I understand that not everyone gets, nor wants to get, Kristen Stewart as a serious actor. I am—as always—on an extreme end of that spectrum of folks. Not only do I think she’s a good actor, I think she is one of the best working actors out there right now. Die mad about it. Or, you can watch something of hers I’ve suggested and be open to whatever happens. Your call. I can’t vouch for a movie I haven’t seen, so what do ya say we watch this one and circle back? Look for ‘J.T. LeRoy’ in theaters on April 26.
Trailer: Dora and the Lost City of Gold
You think I’m playing with you? What have I been saying this entire time about representation? It’s basically nonexistent, so I’ll take what I can get. Plus, Benicio del Toro is playing Swiper.
That alone is a worth the trip to the theater. Check out ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’ in theaters on August 2.
Trailer: The Art of Self-Defense
Jesse Eisenberg always does such great things with characters like this. His deadpan, self-deprecating sense of humor and awkward intensity seem like a perfect fit for this story. Look for ‘The Art of Self-Defense’ in theaters on June 21.
Trailer: Trial By Fire
This looks like it could be interesting. I love drama and Laura Dern so I’m going to give it a shot. Look for ‘Trial by Fire’ in theaters on May 17.
Trailer: The Tomorrow Man
As I’ve always said (even since before I myself got old), there aren’t enough stories out there about life after youth. It’s nice to see that change or at least challenged. Also, I’m still not over how good John Lithgow was in ‘Beatriz at Dinner’ so I’m excited to see what else he has to offer. Look for ‘The Tomorrow Man’ in theaters on May 22.
Trailer: MIB International
The first full trailer for MIB International is finally here. I didn’t realize Liam Neeson and Emma Thomson were both in this too, as if Tessa Thomson weren’t enough. Excited to see if the buddy chemistry between Thomson and Chris Hemsworth is as strong as it looks in the trailer. Look for MIB International in theaters on June 14.
