Permanent is a comedy about growing up, getting awkward and dealing with the insanity we call family. Look for Permanent in theaters next week on December 15.
Trailer: Alita: Battle Angel
Alita: Battle Angel is based on Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita manga, so that explains the giant eyes. I wasn't familiar with the manga so I had to look it up. Glad I did. Interesting stuff. The movie is about the title character's journey of self discovery while trying to save the world. Look for Alita: Battle Angel in theaters on July 20, 2018.
Trailer: Red Sparrow
Well, Jennifer Lawrence was pretty great as Mystique. Red Sparrow also looks infinitely more interesting than Atomic Blonde, so there's that as well. Look for it in theaters next year.
Trailer: The Shape of Water
Guillermo del Toro makes beautiful movies. Michael Shannon and Sally Hawkins do some fine acting and Octavia Spencer has never been anything less than a delight. Plus, interconnectedness is nice. Outlook good on this one. The Shape of Water hits theaters next month on December 1.
Trailer: The Post
A movie about truths the government tried to hide from the American people feels pretty timely right about now. Nothing changes while everything shifts, I guess. Accountability, government coverups and the first female publisher (Katherine Graham played by Meryl Streep) at The Washington Post are at the center of Steven Spielberg's latest. Look for The Post in theaters on December 22nd (limited release), January 12th everywhere.
Trailer: Downsizing
It's not a prequel, sequel, reboot or remake, so I'll probably watch this. I wonder what the accidental death rate would be for someone who is five inches tall. OK now I'm trying to sort out logistics so I'll definitely watch this. I have so many questions. Downsizing hits theaters December 22nd.
