"Republicans slipped in a provision at the last minute that would let derivatives traders on Wall Street gamble with taxpayer money and then get bailed out by the government when their risky bets threaten to blow up our financial system,"
–Sen. Elizabeth Warren
You’ve got to respect a woman that smells bullshit and calls it out because it’s the right thing to do. Familiarize yourselves with the complicated laws, rules and regulations that comprise our modern-day legislatives system because Sen. Warren won’t be around to do it for us forever.
Let me get this straight. If you’re a person that enforces the law--say, like an American police officer--you’re allowed to misunderstand the laws you’re supposed to be enforcing? How is that OK? That wouldn't fly for me. As a civilian, if I did my job poorly I would be justifiably fired. You know, it’s starting to look more and more like those working within the criminal justice system don’t like to hold police accountable for a goddamn thing. Don’t get me wrong, I respect all cops that do their job honestly, do it well and do it informed. I appreciate their sacrifice to ensure my safety; however, ignorant cops who abuse their power are the same kind of scum as violent, megalomaniacal criminals. I wonder if that’s why the people who are supposed to hold the police accountable, don’t. I guess I’d fear for my safety too if I made a bad cop fear for his.
The Movies is trying to shut down The Media. Good luck with that, Sony. Also, if the media incessantly reported on “the fappening,” when personal images were stolen and distributed, why then should they stop reporting on this? Unfortunately, every Sony employee that’s been affected is now just collateral damage. That is, unless they’re rich and/or famous, in those instances, they’re victims that deserve every ounce of pity we can possibly muster. I hate the world sometimes, I really do.
I can’t imagine the horror these folks will have to wrestle with for the rest of their lives. The loss of a loved one is a kind of pain that lingers no matter how much time passes. I was horrified when I learned that a classroom of children had been shot up and many killed in Sandy Hook. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, I was disgusted, sad and in shock. I had some strong feelings on gun control immediately following this particular mass shooting and my feelings have since changed. My stance on access to mental health treatment has not. As more and more mass shootings happen here in the United States, I’m starting to think that maybe it isn’t all about the guns. Maybe it’s the laws, maybe it’s our obsession with violence, maybe it’s our culture, maybe it’s the lack of affordable mental health care or maybe it’s a combination of all those reasons. I don’t know what the answers are; I just know that suing a gun manufacturer for selling military grade weapons to the general populous seems misguided. The availability of the Bushmaster AR-15 didn’t make Sandy Hook happen, but the laws that sanction these sorts of sales, a difficult home life and a lack of adequate mental health treatment certainly contributed.
It appears that it is officially on like Donkey Kong.
The term artificial neurons just blew my mind and put A.I. into perspective. I’m sure it will be awesome for a while, but Skynet awaits, guys. I think I fear technology just as much as I love it. That’s sad, isn’t it?
